Europe getting 40GB PS3 bundles packing Gran Turismo, Blu-ray movies

While we chew on that incoming Metal Gear Solid 4 80GB PS3 (with DualShock 3) in the States, Europe has a pair of SKUs of its own to look forward to. Sony's hitting with a "movie bundle" on March 19th that includes Spider-Man 3, 300 and Casino Royale on Blu-ray, along with a 40GB PS3, all for the regular €399 price. If you can wait until March 29th, for the same price you can nab a 40 gigger bundled with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Both bundles promise to be quite appealing, but apparently neither come packing HD cables, which could be a bit of a hangup for those ready to make the Blu-ray plunge. GT5 box art is after the break.
time to start considering getting yourself one mupp Smile

although, if i were you, I'd try to find myself a 60gb backwards compatible one. for no reason other than they dont make them any more.

my sister recently got one from a game store that sells second hand consoles and games, she gets 12 month warranty (which is the same as for a new one i believe) so nothing to lose.

it's just more 'collectible' and does the same job

im sure someone will correct me but hey Smile
I want back compat, and why are they still selling controllers without rumble
who cares about back compat?????????

and ive had a dualshock3 for ages now, all the games I have have been patched for it already including uk games.
Since the states are getting an 80gig one, any chance the UK will?

Hoping to get over £250 in a few weeks from my office for mileage claim so I may use that to treat myself as a late birthday present.

So, definative answer - should I look for a backwards cap. one or just get the new version - pros + cons on each please.
point 1 - HD size is irrelevent cos at some point you will stick in a bigger one, and no rip off 360 style HD. You can use laptop PC ones so cheap as fuck.

Lets not go there again. However most PS2 games ive wanted to play on PS3 have worked (Oh wait I have a launch 60GIG one) so they will.

On another note Joe how did you get a Dualshock 3........discuss!

EDIT: And just a blu ray note ive just bought lost odyssey and its 4 Chuffing discs! blu ray wouldnt have that trouble cant wait to see FF13 come on 1 glorious disc!
ebay , and it was no more than what RRP will be here.
So basically I can ignore the HD size, its down to the backwards capability - and my PS2 is still set up and works fine - and I still don't play it, so............ last point doesn't the new ones come without something compared to the original ones - sockets, wifi or something?
both have wifi but I think the 40GB loses some usb sockets?

maybe loses some card readers?
Cheers, I've decided to pick one up after my birthday when the new packs come out. The good news being I can't afford two, so that means no Kekie banshee shieking down the comms every two seconds.
you live dangerously

Maybe, but you aint denying it.........
I will consider a ps3 (with rumble) as and when the new socom comes out and its not shit like the last two games.

You dont buy games to play ring-a-ring-a-fucking-roses all the time.

EDIT: And if I hear anything about waiting for a patch to fix this and that, I will fucking kill someone. And because this has zipper connections, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck.
wtf is zipper connections ?

and wtf do you play ringaroses for ?
