OK so Sony have brought out trophies but none of the makers of games have to do trophies unless they want. Some are bringing out retro and some new titles will not have them at all.
What is the point then? Also which games do/don't have them?
Also trying to find a PS3 gamercard like the 360 one in my signature any ideas as the one's I have found are pretty lame! (the one below it seems you have to choose which game trophies that you want to show or else it says 0!)

drakes apparently has trophies
basically sony's guidelines for development, are just that guidelines, MS on the other hand give them a check list, which they have to complete. Hence why MGO is fucking dreadful.
to be honest i am having trouble spotting the next gen gaming and graphics too
it also seems that you have to select the trophies that you have won to show them on that gamercard I haven't even got 6Gun II and although I do have some trophies I haven't got 17!!
yep, the PS3 is just not as "joined up" as 360 yet.
yep i agree. i always felt that xbox was built for online and with ps3 its an add-on to gaming.
i'm just assuming that ps3 will get there in the end. already I'm more inclined to buy games for ps3 over 360, and i'm not sure why, it just feels more 'right'.
i think, going forward, ps3 will get there, they're just a lot slower.
hopefully socom:confrontation will have the facilities we want/need to play together.
I just dont really take much interest in the Trophies idea as its just random games and not all future releases supporting it all seems abit too half finished to worth bothering with atm
I tend to buy both releases if its a big online game so i can play friends i have on my list on either console yet likes of Battlefield BC has random lag in quite few rooms on Ps3 yet 360 seems more stable and Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 won't even find a match on my Ps3 game !? UPDATE new router and Vegas 2 works even though every other game worked ok and had right ports open on old router but anyhow new router and its now ok at last !
Im looking forward to Socom on Ps3 though hopefully it'll be more upto standard of Socom 1 and 2 was and ive got my Beta email from Gamestop too so hopefully i'll get the trial code/download soon i hope !
ps3 comes along and we just get the same unintegrated service which was the ps2 with another promise of intent to become integrated, but as of yet they havent even achived the original xbox live service imo.
either they dont really give a fuck or they dont have the right people to achive the goal, im going with the later options as while im sure the dont really give a fuck plays a role i like to think that they cant be that retarded to think their current online integration is in anyway good enough.
it was a difficult decision for them i reckon.
Release console as is and develop it over time, updates/upgrades. Yep anything retrospective causes inconsistency issues, games dont do this, some do that. Yes we want full online integration and i suspect they would have loved to have home available at launch.
or
Delay ps3 until such facets are ready. That would mean we still would not have PS3.
No brainer imo. I know which one i would prefer.
a year late to market after the xbox360, and how many years before the ps3 was xbox live running on the old xbox???
they really have no excuse.
see i dont buy the excuse that it would have caused a delay in the ps3. They knew what was needed of ingame messaging, friends lists and achivements via a gloabl interface in their case the xmb across all games, yet insted they seem to have burried their heads in the sand sand, and ignored, what we had said for years and what xbox live had been doing from the start.
Which is a shame as like it or not xbox live is the fundamental minimum that sony could and should have been offering from the start. Home as a concept is great but its not the start point for the online service its merely a different take on the interface for accessing the online service and the more i think about Home the more i see it as a white elephant, that people will download use for one weekend and then ignore for 95% of the time.
Sony can cart out as many excuses and promises as they want for their online service but the reality is they still suck and will continue to suck for a good few years to come.
Of course their are expections in that with sonys model we have seen some far supreior online lobby systems ie socom, monster hunter, syphon filter, warhawk unfortunately though as the developers are working off their own idea insted of having a base line minimum most are shit.
in any event only 12 days till socom returns and i can once again forgive sony and fool myself into believing that they will eventually get it right

some fella has taken "time out" to talk about Home. Apparently they had most of the code when they ported from The Getaway Online, they changed the London Boozer into a Med Oasis etc. The prediction is that "RPG fans" will begin to gather and chat and then third parties will "cater" for them.... can't understand the delay as
1) they clearly have ripped the Second Life Concept
2) by their own admission they had the coding sorted when they ripped it our of Getaway Online
Nothing will ever beat some good old fashioned achievement whoring. XBOX 360's Achievements system is so ingenious it makes some people buy games they would never buy (or rent in my case...avatar...cough...CSI...cough...Cars). I cant see this trophy idea being a success in a similar way to home wont be a success either.
the main reason for SONY to have kept there open rules for online content was to keep the small 3rd party development companies happy.
Microsoft makes it expensive and difficult for small companies to make online games (they are forced to use M$ expensive servers and conform to their massive list of conformities).
SONY had the ability and choice to copy M$ but decided against it because they wanted to keep the small developers on their side and continuing to relase content. I don't yet know if it was the right choice or not, they can't compete financialy with M$, so this was their only way of winning over the game companies that M$ haven't bought out into making PS3 specific games.
Most of them only get released in Japan though, so it isn't really much of a benefit to us in europe.

understood kwyjibo, but I prefer M$ implementation.
IMO Sony should have created a standardised communications and party system which all games producers would have integrated into. Game server hosting could have been left to the publishers, but a reliable understandable and uniform comms and party system is essential as a minimum.
actually i think the party system is shit.
I much prefer allowing freedom to the game makers.
xbox has encouraged its users to not find new people to play with, pushing peopel into parties of their friends.
a decent lobby system like socoms is far more sociable. I forgot how much better and how happier i was with it until i started using it again
as for comms. well lets just say the quality and implementation in a certain game on the ps3 im using atm is the best i have used in any game on any platform.
